This is the 4th time blogging this week and despite the fact that I have been unwell for the last 3 days or so, It is beyond fulfilling having to pick up my iPad and type away whenever I feel like it. I love and enjoy writing.
I have been down with a cold which was partially treated and recurred about 2 weeks later. Yesterday, I woke up with my body at boiling point and a splitting headache that could not go away. My temperature was at 37.8. I know. Not good. I’ve however been very well taken care of, spoilt rather and I cannot wait to be back on my two feet, running around the house doing my usual caring and lost in my kitchen stirring recipes away.

Today, I feel much better. Been drowsy half the time and the headache has gone down significantly. I am grateful for the energy to write before the ooh mighty blackout comes for me again, haha.
While I’ve been gone, the US Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin were at it again, shooting and paralyzing Jacob Blake, a 29 year old African-American man. Got me thinking. At what point do the police feel entitled to draw guns and mercilessly shoot at an unarmed individual in the full view of his kids. George Floyd has not even started breathing a sigh of relief in his grave. Alongside a few of the other Black Americans in recent years that have also been killed by police. Will this brutality ever stop. Reminds me of the late Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, Aura Rosser, Stephon Clark, Botham Jean, Philando Castille, Alton Sterling, Michelle Cusseaux, Freddie Gray, Janisha Fonville, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, Akai Gurley, Tony McDade, Gabriella Nevarez, Muhammad Muhaymin Jr, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Tanisha Anderson and counting. We are done dying. Let’s take action now https://www.naacp.org/campaigns/we-are-done-dying/
I am Kenyan and unlike a few of us from the world over that feel it is not our business to meddle in what has been unfolding for centuries in America as regards to Racial Injustice, I cannot simply sit back and pretend it does not hit a raw nerve inside me. You do not need to be directly affected to take action that supports causes. Worse still, when those sitting at the helm of power continuously do nothing to effect change.

We all need to start holding our leaders accountable. They have the notion that we should serve them. No, we put them in power therefore they should serve us diligently for them to keep holding those positions. Our Votes. It is not just in the US. I speak to many other leaderships, including my motherland Kenya. We would achieve so much if we worked together and not allow corruption, petty politics, tribalism and cash handouts from these greedy goons to have their cake and eat it. Only when the masses decide they have had enough, unite and take that power to the ballot box, will change begin to be realized. Let that talk be accompanied by some action for Christ sakes. I have signed petitions, amplified my voice and sincerely hold you up in prayers, virtual hugs and love.

Then the untimely demise of persons I barely know that leaves my tummy in knots. This month, I learnt of the death of 25-year old vibrant British dancer, Social Media sensation with more than 150,000k subscribers. At the time of her death, Nicole Thea was 8 months pregnant. She and her boyfriend Global Boga were expecting their first child, Reign who tragically died along with his mama. The cause of death was said to be a massive heart attack. So, so sad. You can check their channel out here https://youtu.be/ipC5MYLMqRY and watch them dancing here https://pin.it/5WI8VIg so so cute and heartbreaking at the same time. Love and light to Boga and the entire family.

Coronavirus cases are on the rise in many countries including South Africa, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, India, United States, Egypt, Brazil, Iran, Spain, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, France, Germany and Italy with fears of a second wave and possible curfews and lockdowns imminent. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Wherever in the world you are, please keep safe and positive. This too, shall pass.
Also, is there anything like eyelid pain, or am I tired of reading all the devastation happening around the world. My eyeballs are doing a sloppy job and am having to carefully calculate my movement before looking towards any direction. Am currently googling remedies, lol.
Tomorrow is Friday and my online studies and assessments have been lagging behind for several days now and I am working on resetting my deadlines to catch up. Am now left with about 7 weeks and 33 hours of study and exams to go. Wish me luck.
I wish you all a lovely weekend. Don’t sweat the small stuff. 2020 is keeping us busy learning all the lessons we need for the next century so hang in there. Mind you own and enjoy the peace that comes with it.
Adios.
